Slush Cup Pond Hockey Tournament

Good Afternoon Team Captain,

The 6th Annual Slush Cup is this Saturday March 18th!

We’ll do our best to stay on schedule and we need your help to make it happen. Please be ready in time for your games.  If we get ahead or behind, we’d appreciate you being ready to play.

Teams should arrive a bit early to allow for dressing, warm-up, and the possibility we are ahead of schedule.  Here’s the schedule.

DIVISION – PLAYING TIMES – SUGGESTED ARRIVAL TIME:

  • PEE WEE                       9a-12:45p (arrive 8:30a)
  • SQUIRT                        10:45a-12:45p (arrive 10:15a)
  • ADULT                           11:15a-1:45p (arrive 10:45a)
  • HIGH SCHOOL             12:30-2:30pm (arrive, noon)
  • BANTAM                       1-2:45pm (arrive 12:30p)
  • MITE                            1:30a-2:45p (arrive 1p)

 

RULES:

  • Teams who have not paid MUST PAY BEFORE PLAYING.
  • All players must SIGN IN AT OFFICE UPON ARRIVAL.  Those under 18 will need a parent/guardian to sign them in.
  • A representative from each team must also check in at BRACKETS TABLE ON ICE when you arrive.
  • 4 players per team max, 3 minimum.
  • Players can “play up” but not down. (1 HS player per team may play up to ADULT.)
  • All players must wear a helmet.  Facemasks are required for those 18 and under. Other gear recommended but not required.
  • 3 on 3 cross ice games with sub on the fly.
  • 12 minute, running time games with 2 minutes between games.
  • Double Elimination.
  • Pond Hockey goals will be used.
  • NO slap shots. (Penalty = D zone face off, goals don’t count).  
  • NO icing is allowed. (Penalty = D zone face off)
  • NO high sticking above waist. (Penalty = D zone face off). 
  • NO lifting EXCEPT saucer passes no higher than knees. (Penalty = D zone face off).
  • NO goaltending. (In crease more than 3 seconds when puck isn’t in. (Penalty = D zone face off).
  • NO checking (Penalty = shorthanded for 1 minute)
  • Scoring from anywhere on the rink is allowed BUT icing applies if you miss!
  • All players must be in control.
  • In case of tie in preliminary games:
    • 1, 1 minute SD OT, 2 vs 2, then
    • Shootout. Each team shoots 4x in a row at empty goal from half ice.  Teams determine which of their players shoot.
      • If still tied after 4 shots per team, shootout becomes sudden death with each team shooting 1x until there is a winner.
  • In case of tie in finals only:
    • Sudden death until someone wins.
  • Spectators may view game from on or off the ice.  If on the ice, spectators must stay in designated area.
  • Helmets must be worn in practice area.
  • All players and spectators must clear playing surface for ice makes.
  • ALL PLAYERS AND SPECTATORS ARE EXPECTED TO DEMONSTRATE GOOD SPORTSMANSHIP.  PLAYERS AND/OR SPECTATORS WHO ARE BEING DISRESPECTFUL TOWARDS OTHERS WILL BE ASKED TO LEAVE THE FACILITY.
  • Prizes will be awarded to the first-place team in each division.
